CONCENTRATION OF 5-HTP
5-HTP is a gray-white crystalline powder extracted from the seeds of the Griffonia simplicifolia plant. It contains no fillers of any kind.
5-HTP works in the brain and central nervous system by increasing the production of the chemical serotonin. Serotonin can affect sleep, appetite, temperature, sexual behavior, and pain sensation. Since 5-HTP increases the synthesis of serotonin, it is used for several disorders where serotonin is believed in theory to play an important role including depression, insomnia, obesity, and many other conditions.
5-HTP SIDE EFFECTS
Provided suggested serving sizes are adhered to, this supplement is safe to take. However, excessive use may cause mild side effects such as nausea, stomach pain, drowsiness and diarrhea. Should any of these issues occur, reduce dosage accordingly.
Pregnant/nursing women and those with Down syndrome should not take this product. Because 5-HTP can affect serotonin levels, this powder should not be taken within two weeks of surgery.
