Branch Chain Amino Acids, most commonly shortened to BCAA, are made up of the amino acids L-Valine, L-Leucine and L-Isoleucine, respectively. While BCAAs are found in their greatest natural quantities in products such as red meat and many types of dairy, protein supplements synthesized from an egg base or whey are ideal for finding concentrated amounts.
These amino acids are referred to as Branch Chain Amino Acids because they have a chemical structure that separates them from the rest of the amino acid family. In addition, these BCAAs make up 40% of total body protein content and represent around 15 to 25% of total protein intake overall.
CONCENTRATION OF BCAAS
BCAA is a mixture of three essential amino acids - leucine, isoleucine and valine - that cannot be produced in the human body, however, have very important biological functions. Leucine, for instance, is crucial for muscle hypertrophy (aka may help with muscle growth) not only because it is an important building block for muscle, but also because it signals the body to start muscle protein synthesis (aka may help build muscle).
The blend of ingredients that is found to be most effective in BCAAs is a mixture of 2:1:1 of Leucine, Isoleucin, and Valine, respectively. This product contains an insignificant amount of lecithin. Supplements should be stored in an area that is both dry and cool and away from the light.
BCAAs have a grainy look and a white coloration. They are bitter in taste and are totally insoluble. The powder can be administered effectively by sprinkling on a meal, but since it is so bitter, the most common preference is to blend the supplement into some kind of smoothie or fruit-based puree.
BCAA SIDE EFFECTS

Although there are no known drug interactions associated with the supplement, it may be wise to first discuss use with a physician. This supplement should be taken in lower doses than recommended if liver and kidney issues are of a concern.
